Saying Goodbye to Maine

For the last few weeks, several conversations each day include, "I can't believe we're leaving this place," or "I can't believe we got to live here." Prepping to leave Maine has been entirely more emotional work than either of us thought.
We've spent our final weeks enjoying the beautiful weather, eating our favorite foods, checking some final things off our Maine bucket list and spending time with friends.
The best celebration of our time in Maine came on a two day backpacking hike along the Cutler Coast, near the border with Canada. It's been on our to-do list for quite some time and we were finally able to make it happen in mid June, as it's not the most accessible area. It's a 10 mile hike along the coastline with only a few first-come, first-serve camping sites along the route. We lucked out with pristine weather and what we thought was by far the best spot to set up for the night. It was truly a surreal experience that kept us saying those very phrases over and over. Not to mention it's completely free.
Maine has been too good to us. We are so thankful for all the school/work experiences we've learned from, the places we've visited, the food we've ate and the people we've met. If we don't ever live in Maine again, we can absolutely foresee it being our go-to vacation spot to reminisce on these good times.
Amy was able to get her first rotation of the year done before we leave. She worked with a Direct Speciality Care ENT for two weeks (shoutout to @PearceMD !)
We also want to give a shoutout to our current hosts: Sean, Mary, and crew (Bravenit Camp on HipCamp). We've been on their property for about two and half months as we got settled in and figured out this big rig. They did their own RV trek not long ago and were so welcoming, and Sean seemed to have every tool available whenever we needed to borrow something. We couldn't have had a better spot to gear up for this coming year.
Our first stop is not too far -- a great intro to packing everything up and hitting the road. We're off to New Hampshire for Amy's two week rotation with the medical examiner. I'll be starting a teledentistry position for a company in Maine, which will be the perfect way to fill the gaps between my locums work. I'm looking forward to a short break from chairside dentistry and to learn this RV inside and out in my free time.
I almost forgot -- our second time dumping the tanks went SO much better. You can probably guess how we celebrated. Did the waitress recognize us? Maybe.
