In Our Modifications Era

We love this RV, but it didn't quite feel like home.

Every place we've lived the past 7+ years, we've furnished almost entirely from Facebook Marketplace. Something about moving into a fully furnished RV just didn't sit right. Chad, always the realist, encouraged me to learn how to love the furniture, because it was very functional and our plan is still to sell the rig in 2025. Me, always the persistent idea generator, simply didn't accept that encouragement.

Some before photos of the (very gray) space:

If we ever write a book, it will definitely be titled "Furnishing from Facebook: A Memoir." Or, "You Think That was a Bad Decision? Watch This!" How we are still not sponsored by Facebook Marketplace is unknown to me. But, a gal can dream.

Chad had lots of free time in New Hampshire and spent probably half of that scouring the Marketplace. We ended up selling our two couches to a man with a wiener dog named Star (obviously pictured below), which seemed like a win-win-win. This mostly consisted of me helping this man load his trailer and Chad walking Star around the campground. For a few days thereafter, we enjoyed our lawn chairs as our featured living room furniture. The modification era had officially begun.

Buying furniture and other things off Marketplace takes time. You have to search, make sure the seller isn't a robot, often drive to a place to pick up the item, and hope that the person takes Venmo because you know Chad and I don't carry cash. It can be really frustrating and occasionally defeating. The same goes for selling things on Marketplace. For example, we bought a rug that was a little too big for the living space, so we turned around and sold it. And Chad got roasted by the buyer (RIP his Marketplace rating). BUT, he found an excellent storage bench for our shoes that doubles as extra seating in the dining space.

While you're feeling feisty from your Marketplace experience, you could do what we did and decide to wallpaper your RV! ("When will these two chill?" you ask. Probably never, but thanks for asking.) Side note: you don't have to do mushrooms to think they're beautiful and plaster them on your walls.

Also, the haters will say that fitting a spin bike into an RV is a silly idea. I say let the haters be your motivators and prioritize your self care. ❤️ Then I say to drive to a little town and meet a man at a market to pick up your new-to-you spin bike, which put the finishing touches on the remodel!

Finally, New Hampshire was very good to us. We scored a beautiful spot at Paugus Bay Campground, which overlooked Lake Winnipesaukee. The owners were so welcoming, and we could kayak whenever we wanted. I had a great learning environment with the medical examiner and Chad started to get his feet under him with working from home and nailing down his licenses for the rest of the year. Also, I continue to be the mini golf champion in this family (much to Chad's dismay), and Chad continues to keep this rig running.
